Welcome to the new Merchantville Web site! Merchantville.com is celebrating our 15th Anniversary with a makeover fit for this new decade. It is our first major redesign since 2002 and was undertaken in order to provide our users with the information that they need quickly and efficiently. We know there will be some tweaking in the coming weeks as we all get used to the new layout and organization. Our email database includes more than 1800 individuals who receive the Borough Newsletter and updates about our town. Merchantville's website has been maintained by volunteers and provided free of cost to the Borough and residents since 1997. Shane Brennan is the website systems administrator. Shane is a database and Unix/Linux adminstrator and Sytems Engineer certified in Microsoft and Novell. Joan Brennan is the website administrator. She manages the content and the database. Contibutions to the site are submitted daily from municipal employees and community volunteers.
In early 1996 the original idea of a Merchantville website was proposed and presented to the business association by new resident and business owner Ken Adams. His company, Interfusion, provided development services and programming though IBM Lotus Notes. He and his wife Barbara loved the town had a very strong sense of volunteerism. Furthermore, Ken's industry encouraged and honored "pro bono" efforts with an annual philanthropic award so he was contemplating a website challenge that would meet the criteria for consideration.
