MATHCOUNTS® Competition
Eight students from St Peter School's new math team competed in the South Jersey MATHCOUNTS Regional Competition at Rowan University in Glassboro on Saturday, February 10. MATHCOUNTS® is a national math enrichment, coaching and competition program that promotes middle school mathematics achievement. Schools select students to compete individually or as part of a team in one of more than 500 written and oral competitions held nationwide. Top students advance to the state, and ultimately, to the national level. Justin Pierlott finished in the top ten and St. Peter won the distinction of "Best New School".
The following students were among the 143 Mathletes® competing at Rowan: Sara Arana, Emily Leonard, and Kelsey McCoy (8th grade), Patrick O'Drain, Justin Pierlott, Marissa Wolfe, and John Zazzera (7th grade), and Jessica Kowal (6th grade). The students were selected based on their final rank in a school competition held on Friday, January 19. The top four individuals represented St. Peter School in the Team Round of the competition. They were: Justin Pierlott (1st), Emily Leonard (2nd), John Zazzera (3rd) and Patrick O'Drain (4th).
New Gym Floor
On Friday, January 5th, 2007 at 6 pm in the Msgr. Fallon Parish Hall, the St. Peter School community dedicated the new gym floor to Rev. Anthony J. Manuppella. Father Anthony's most generous support enabled the school community to install a beautiful new gym floor for the children. The floor was installed over the Christmas break and is ready just in time for the first of many home games hosted by the St. Peter girl's and boy's basketball teams. The floor will be enjoyed by the many children who participate in the St. Peter basketball clinic, the intramural and traveling basketball teams and the daily gym classes.
Open House
St. Peter's will be hosting an Open House on Sunday, March 4, 2007 from 1-3 p.m. All are welcome.
