Suspended tax collector faces five new counts of theft PDF  | Print |  E-mail
Michelle McKinney, who became tax collector in 2008, faces five new counts of theft including $6,777 in additional funds from tax payments made in cash by five different Merchantville residents that were never deposited in the borough's accounts according to Camden County Prosecutor Warren W. Faulk. The missing payments came to light during an audit designed to determine exactly how much money may have pocketed. That audit is ongoing and an investigation into McKinney's conduct as tax collector is ongoing. Anyone with information which could assist this investigation is asked to contact Merchantville Police at (856) 662-0507.
