We need helping hand safety program volunteers. At the present time there are only 15 safe houses/locations in the Borough. There are many areas in Merchantville that do not have a Helping Hand house. Please review the requirements of participation for the program to see if you and/or anyone you know in Merchantville may be a candidate to volunteer for this program. The following
streets Do NOT have coverage from this program:
East Rodgers Ave Ivans Ave. Myrtle Ave.
East andWest Cedar Ave. Alexander Ave. Maple Ave.
East and West Walnut Ave. Morris St. Church Rd.
Gilmore Ave. Springfield Ave. Cove Rd.
Clifton Ave. Lexington Ave. Oak Terrace
Fifthian Ave. Browning Rd. Volan St..
Maple Terrace Linden St. Somerset Ave.
Prospect Ave. Crump La Chestnut Ave.
Russell St Euclid Ave. Sussex Ave.
Westminster Ave. West End Ave. Woodbine Ave.
St. James Ave. Centre St Victoria Ave.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
1. Complete an application and process through the Police Department, including fingerprinting and approval.
2. Must have a responsible adult in the house during school hours especially during the times children are walking to and from school.
3. Must have a working phone in the home in order to call 911.
