Society looks to honor homeowners |

The Merchantville Historical Society is searching for candidates to be recipients of an award certificate for the interior or exterior appearance of their homes. It’s our way to reach out to let you know that your efforts have not gone unnoticed or unappreciated. You will be invited to share your old house adventures with the members of the Society at a gathering at the home of Peter and Jane Homon, 40 E. Walnut Avenue, on Wednesday, February 27, at 7:30PM.

Get magazines through County Library |
|
Beginning in February, customers with a Camden County Library card will be able to download over 100 popular magazines through Zinio, a digital newsstand offered to subscribing libraries. Magazines will be easy to download and view on a computer or on a range of mobile devices, including the iPad, Android tablet and the Kindle Fire. The service will provide access to a range of magazines popular with customers, including Consumer Reports, Car & Driver, Ladies Home Journal, Vibe, VIV Magazine and Newsweek, which is no longer available in a print version. All magazines will be complete editions, with some including enhanced content such as audio and video. There is no waiting list and no need to return issues.

Market Committee gets set for 2013 |

County’s Code Blue Advisories assist homeless |
The Camden County Health Officer has issued a “Code Blue” Severe Weather Advisory for extreme weather conditions. The Health Department and the Office of Emergency Management have worked with each municipality to ensure they have the proper resources to respond to these severe weather situations as part of their individual Code Blue plans. Each municipality has identified its own location to accommodate those in their community

Because the flu season has hit hard and early, the Camden County Freeholders have scheduled an additional flu shot clinic for those residents who haven’t received them. Freeholder Carmen Rodriguez, liaison to the Camden County Health Department, announced that the clinic will be held: Tuesday, February 5th at the Homestead Community Center, 4771 Willow Avenue, Pennsauken, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Council Caucus meeting 1.28.13 |
Discussion items on the agenda at the Borough Council meeting tonight include the following: Scoreboard for baseball field at Community Center; Ascertain whether certain property within Merchantville is in need of Redevelopment; Sewer Rates; Shared service agreement for Sub-Code Officials; and, Support assembly bill A-2753 requiring direct payment of energy taxes to municipal government. Resolutions to be read by consent agenda and passed tonight include: R13-24 Authorize Planning Board to investigate whether certain property within Merchantville is an area in need of redevelopment and R13-25 Authorizing Shared Service agreements for Sub-Code Officials. State plans to uproot the Children's Garden |
In a letter sent last week, the New Jersey Department of Treasury ordered Children's Garden director Michael Devlin to remove all property, including the facility's amusement rides, gazebo, and giant dinosaur, by March 31. The nonprofit Camden Children's Garden has two months to vacate most of its state-owned property before the land is transferred to the Adventure Aquarium next door. An online petition and Facebook page have been started to "Save the Garden".

Licenses for all dogs over 7 months must be obtained annually in the month of January.Fees: Spayed/Neutered $9.00; Unspayed/unneutered: $12.00. Late Fees: After March 31, the late fee is $10.00 in addition to the original cost. After June 30, the late fee is $15.00 in addition to the original cost. After September 30, the late fee is $20.00 in addition to the original cost.
