When local families sit down to breakfast, there may be familiar faces staring out from the back of their Cheerios boxes. Six ShopRite employees in three Burlington County stores will be on the special-edition cereal boxes. On Wednesday, at ShopRite of Marlton in Evesham, store associates Taryn Gunn of Evesham and Brenda Holland of Merchantville were honored. The photo celebrates the $1 million recently collected by 240 stores to benefit people in need of food. http://bit.ly/GY3mHx |

Listen carefully today — Valentine’s Day — and you’ll hear expressions of love and the ring of cash registers. According to the National Retail Federation, the average person celebrating Valentine’s Day will pay $126.03, from buying jewelry to enjoying nice dinner out, up 8.5 percent from $116.21 last year. It’s the highest in the survey’s 10-year history. Total spending is expected to reach $17.6 billion, the retailers association said. http://on.cpsj.com/wklXF0 |

A gun shop in Merchantville raises questions |
|
A quaint Camden County borough of about 3,800, Merchantville is best known for Victorian architecture and, lately, a move to merge with adjacent Cherry Hill. But unlike the notion of Merchantville becoming one with its far larger neighbor, the RayCo Armory sparked no opposition. Until recently. I hadn't noticed RayCo either, until DiSalvo pointed it out on a recent blustery morning. Like a half dozen nearby businesses, it's partly obscured by a huge fried-chicken establishment. http://bit.ly/wmdiWg

Sweet laces a for a great cause |
|
Based in Merchantville, the Go4theGoal Foundation is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit charitable organization founded in 2006 by Dr. Richard and Beth Stefanacci, soon after their oldest child was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. The foundation created “Lace-Up 4 Pediatric Cancer,” a program that provides brightly colored shoelaces to local sports teams to show their support for a cancer patient in their community. After Garstkiewicz was diagnosed with cancer, the group provided the lacrosse team with about 300 pairs of the laces. http://bit.ly/xz17RU |
