When eating an Easter bunny, do you start with the ears or tail? |
Whenever we see a chocolate bunny perched on its back legs, we know we have to eat it. But how? Do we start with the head or the tail? While some folks are all ears, others just can't bear to decapitate a hare, preferring to amputate a bunny's bottom first. Brooks Oakford, whose father founded Aunt Charlotte's in Merchantville, says it's less of a commitment to start with the thin head than the thicker bottom.
"(I) eat it from the top down because that's the smallest bite," says the 88-year-old. "It gets a little hard when you get down to the butt, but I think it's all delicious." http://bit.ly/fLVLVI |

Shoppers stock up on Easter favorites |
But when it comes to Easter chocolates, many will tell you there are few places quite like Aunt Charlotte's Candies in Merchantville, New Jersey. "The people are always lovely when you come in, it's a magical place for children. My children were raised here," said Teresa Walter of Merchantsville. The Oakford Family has been making homemade treats by hand since 1920, and that tradition is still going strong three generations later. It's the kind of quality that keeps customers coming back every Easter. Family patriarch, Brooks Oakford, says he's astonished by his customer loyalty. http://bit.ly/ebx2cJ |

Local towns reluctant to consider merging |
However, officials in both of those towns said they have and continue to share as many vital services as possible without looking to full on merger, which is not the path they wish to go in right now. The towns share a regional high school system and in the grade school levels, have developed a shared curriculum program. Recreational programs such as junior football, cheerleading and wrestling are merged, DPW equipment is often shared when needed and fire departments provide mutual aid between the two towns and many others in South Bergen County. Carlstadt Councilman Joe Crifasi said personnel is shared too, more efficiently than if towns merged and had one full-time position. http://bit.ly/g3n8PP |
