6th Annual Richard's River Run

richardsrunThis 6th annual run will be held on Sunday, May 6th in Pennsauken, NJ. The Certified Course at Cooper River Race starts at the track on North Park Drive. Parking is available at the start, but arrive early! Race day registration from 7:30-8:45 AM T-shirts guaranteed for all pre-registrants; On race day, while supplies last. Award ceremony & refreshments will be available post-race at the track. The Tim Frantz Memorial Medal will be given to the top male & female finishers. Top finishers in each age category as follows: 6-10 years, 11-14 years, 15-19 years, 20-29 years, 30-39 years, 40-49 years, 50-59 years, 60 and over.

Brigade Band to perform at Merchantville Church

Trinity United Methodist Church in Merchantville will host an exciting and varied music program on Sunday, April 22, and invites all music lovers to attend. The 4 p.m. program will take place in the church’s historic 117-year-old-sanctuary and bring together vocalists, organists, harpists and a brass ensemble whose members are part of the Philadelphia Brigade Band, a 20-member Civil War era brass band. The program will include a mix of show tunes, 19th Century ballads, classical pieces and sacred selections.

Deadline nears for photo entries

classicphotoAmateur and professional photographers are invited to submit their best images from the DRVPA Cassic Towns in seven different categories including: community, local history, main street, parks and recreation, people, residential, and seasonal. The deadline for the contest is April 14. Online voting will begin on April 15.

Consolidation meetings stalled

Cherryville

The self-appointed Consolidation Commission opened and closed their meeting in short order on Tuesday, March 6th when vice-chairman, Rich James, announced that the pending RFP seeking a consultant to study a possible municipal merger of Merchantville and Cherry Hill had run into a roadblock. Cherry Hill Township wants several legal questions answered about possible sponsorship of the RFP before they will move forward. The meeting schedule has been suspended until those questions are answered by the DCA.
