On Saturday, September 23rd, the Merchantville Class of 1963 had its 60-Year Class Reunion at Maritsa's Restaurant in Maple Shade. Considering their ages - around 78 - they had a pretty good showing with classmates coming from as far away as Florida and Switzerland. Yes, once again, our exchange student Marty Monsch and his wife traveled over 4,000 miles to join us. After all these years, I don't think he's ever missed a reunion.

Dougherty, age 82 of Merchantville passed away Thursday, September 14, 2023. Joe left behind his beloved wife, Annamarie Dougherty; two caring children, Jennifer Hamner (Bill), Katherine Dougherty; and a cherished granddaughter, Ellie. A service was held in Orange City, Florida, on May 5th, for Audrey S. Carey who passed away peacefully, on April 29th, in her home at age 90, with family lovingly by her side. Audrey was born on August 9, 1932, in Rockmart, GA, to Sydney Jackson Stone and Osia Mae Rice. She spent her youth in Atlanta and her “claim to fame” was her uncles, Paul and Hoke Rice, who were well known musicians and composers that wrote and sold many songs, including the famous ballad “You Are My Sunshine”. Audrey met and married Gorman Carey and relocated

Dorothy Mae Schimpf, longtime Pennsauken resident, went to be with the Lord at the age of 93 on Thursday, May 25, 2023. Dottie was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Merchantville. She also served on the board of the Camden Home for Children for many years. She gave of her gifts and time volunteering for Urban Promise.  In her younger years she especially enjoyed being part of the theatrical events for the Merchantville Women’s Club. Dottie was a long time member of Merchantville Country Club for 65 years. As first mate to Captain John, Dottie shared a passion for boating with family and friends on the Delaware

Geraldine T. Entwistle, aged 91, of Merchantville, NJ, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2023, from Pneumonia. “Gerrie"” was born on December 11, 1931 to Mary Elizabeth Taylor, nee Mitchell, and Everett Amos Taylor, in Mt. Holly, NJ. She was friendly, empathetic, and naturally intuitive. After Gerrie graduated from Mt. Holly HS in 1949, she went on to study Nursing at West Jersey School of Nursing, graduating in 1952 as an RN. She began work at Mt. Holly Hospital as a Maternity/Delivery room nurse. In 1951, Gerrie met her future husband, Paul, a WW2 Navy veteran, at the Dancette Ballroom in Oaklyn, NJ. They married in 1953,

Merchantville High School was a four-year public high school that operated from 1929 until 1972 as part of the Merchantville School District.
