Interest in backyard chicken keeping on the rise as price of eggs remains high. The recent spike in egg prices has driven some to explore backyard chicken keeping, but the work and expenses required to house and feed chickens may not offset the price of backyard eggs. This week, CBS News Money Watch featured local Gwenne Baile, aka "The Chicken Lady of South Jersey", who is dedicated to connecting residents of towns in Camden
County who want to have backyard chickens. This former midwife and RN also created Camden County Chickens and Therapy Hens, a program that regularly visits nursing homes and schools and can be seen almost every weekend at farmer's markets, sustainability functions and other special events like chicken story time at libraries all over South Jersey.
