Murder remains a mystery

Thirty years after her husband’s murder, Nancy Groom makes clear what she wants. “I would like an answer before I die, for heaven’s sake.” Edward Bauer was found shot to death Jan. 23, 1984 in his Merchantville auto repair shop. His slaying remains the tiny borough’s only unsolved homicide. Merchantville Police Chief Wayne Bauer hasn’t written off the case, either. The 27-year veteran has come to know Groom and her family over the years; bringing them closure has become personal.
