Merchantville will celebrate Arbor Day on Saturday, April 28th. The Merchantville Shade Tree Commission will be planting a tree to honor Vern Collins at 11:00 a.m. on the Merchantville Circle. All residents and friends are invited to attend. Vern was a devoted member of the committee for more that 35 years and was responsible for many of the beautiful trees that borough residents enjoy to this day.

The MPWC will begin the Spring fire hydrant flushing initiative at the end of the month. The MPWC Commissioners Spring Flushing Program will take place between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 25th through Thursday, March 29th and again on Sunday, April 1st through Thursday, April 5th.

Neither the Cherry Hill or Merchantville administration sent representatives to the March 6th commission meeting and it was attended by only a few residents. Mayor North, who in the past has voiced his concerns over who would sit on the commission was not at the meeting and has not heard anything on the merger. North noted, “I will say the new administration in Cherry Hill has reached out to me about doing more shared services wherever we can.
