Robert A. Johnston, 85, formerly of Pennsauken and Medford, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at the Samaritan Center, Voorhees, NJ. Born in Camden, NJ, Robert was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, and former Captain of the Pennsauken First Aid Squad, and the former Lakes Emergency Squad of Medford. He was also a member of the Niagara Fire Co. in Merchantville, and the Odd Fellows in Medford. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Rose Johnston (nee Odor); and his children, Robin Sammons, and Jeffrey Johnston and his wife Sheila McGinn. Alyce died on Tuesday, September 7, 2021. At the age of 95, she was one of the oldest residents of Merchantville.  Alyce’s family moved to town when she was 17, and she died, peacefully, in the same home she lived in for 78 years. Alyce is preceded in death by her sister Mildred (known as Mimi) who also was a life long Merchantville resident. In her youth, Alyce was a member of the Merchantville Playcasters which performed in the building now occupied by the Blue Monkey. She also served many years in the Clerk’s office of Merchantville and is remembered for both attention to detail and efficiency in handling the many submissions that crossed her desk. Following her retirement, Alyce lived a quiet life, spending holidays with her neighbors and adopted family, Steve and Cindy Volkert and their family members. A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the Lakeview Memorial Park. Alijah Floyd-Brown's life will be celebrated during service at Alloway Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 1st at 11:30 a.m. Alijah was 9 years young and an incoming fourth grader at Merchantville School who bravely fought glioma cancer for 15 months. He passed peacefully on August 24, 2021. During those difficult months the school and greater Merchantville community stepped up to support the Brown family. Anna Jackson Unroe was born Feb 1, 1933, in Camden, NJ to Philip Jackson and Florence McFarland Jackson. She was the youngest of 6 children. She peacefully ascended into the loving arms of Jesus August 7, 2021, while surrounded by her loving family. Anna graduated from Merchantville High School in Merchantville NJ in 1950, and continued her education at Baptist Bible Seminary in Johnson City NY where she received a Bachelor of Religious Education degree. Anna leaves behind Elzie, her husband of 66 years; daughters Nancy (Karl) Chadrick of Medway, OH, Becky (Mark) Anderson of LaPorte, IN, Judy Masterson of Sanford, FL; and son Timothy (Susan) of McCordsville, IN. She also leaves behind 9 grandchildren, and 10 great grand children. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and 5 siblings. Full obituary.

George O'Neill, 73, of Medford, passed away peacefully at home, on Saturday August 28, 2021, with his loving wifeand soulmate, Lynne Patrice O'Neill. He was on born February 4th, 1948 to the late Joseph and Gladys O'Neill. George attended the Merchantville school system and after high school was drafted into the US Army to fight in the Vietnam War. It is with deep sadness that we mourn the death of our beloved husband, father, brother, and uncle, who passed away on August 3, 2021 at St. Anne's Retirement Community, Lancaster, PA. John L. Finlayson was born on March 14, 1941 to loving parents, John Lawrence and Sarah (Jones) Finlayson, who preceded him in death. He grew up in Merchantville, NJ, where he displayed an early entrepreneurial spirit, captaining a staff of newspaper deliverers and opening his own business, the snack bar at the Woodbine Swim Club. In addition to his career, John was an active community volunteer with stints on many community boards including the Merchantville Board of Education. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Virginia "Ginger", his sons John "Jay" (Michele) and James "Thad" (Shoko), his sister Nancy Padgett, his brothers Andrew Finlayson (Sarah) and Bruce Finlayson, his niece Cristin Ryan (Colin) and nephew Colin Padgett, his great nieces Caroline, Emily, and Caitlin, and his sister-in-law Ann Marie.
