Thank you to our Incredible Edible Merchantville partners in the Garden Club, who do so much in the West End to support good stewardship and a sustainable environment. The Merchantville Garden Club is always seeking volunteers for annual plantings at various spots around town - the planters throughout the downtown, planters at Borough Hall, the garden at the municipal building, the gardens at the ends of the bike path, the Merchantville Circle garden, Morrissesy Park and now near Cigar Alley. Please contact Cindy Hertneck at 609-472-4626 if you would like to contribute an hour or two of time to keeping the borough beautiful!

The Merchantville School Garden Club under advisor Dina Turan, met with the Merchantville Community Garden Club to plant in the community on May 17th. Before they planted, they were read a story by club member, Cindy Hertneck. It is wonderful to see the Borough and school clubs working together to embrace the importance of community engagement and volunteerism. The Merchantville Garden Club also gave students sunflower seeds to plant in their own yards.

Come check out all of the newly planted flowers and vines as you stroll from Wellwood Park down West Maple Avenue. Residents and neighbors joined in the Garden Club's effort to fill the planters lining this streetscape following the West End Clean and Green Day on May 4th. Garden Club members supplemented the herbs and plants donated to IE Merchantville from the greenhouse at Sustainable Camden County during their trip to Platt’s Nursery on May 7th. and used the vegetation to beautify the many community spaces they maintain annually in the Borough.
