On Saturday, May 7, 2022, Thomas J. McFadden Jr. passed away at the age of 65 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. His wife, Terry, shared the news and her gratitude for everyone who supported and cared for Tom in a FaceBook post. Tom was a lifelong resident of Merchantville, a 1976 graduate of Pennsauken High School, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a loving husband to Teresa “Terry” McFadden for 43 years. Together they raised three sons, Thomas McFadden and his wife, Jenn; Ryan McFadden and his wife, Carolina; and Shane McFadden. For the past 26 years Tom, along with Terry, were the proud owners of TNT Pest Control, a business he started with his mother, Barbara. He loved what he did, and quickly became known as the “Bug Man.” He was able to build long-lasting and meaningful relationships in the community with his customers, who became more like friends and family. Tom Torok, 73, of Merchantville, a “lifelong journalist” in his own words, an indispensable and tireless reporter and editor at The Inquirer and New York Times, a trailblazing expert on data-driven journalism, a website developer, international teacher, mentor, lecturer, and veteran, died Sunday, March 6, at Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden. In addition to his wife, Cece, son, Stephen Torok (Sarah Taylor), and daughter, Elena, Mr. Torok is survived by former wife Lena Maria Cooper, a sister, and other relatives. Three brothers died earlier. Visitation with the family is to be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at the Falco, Caruso & Leonard Funeral Home, 6600 Browning Rd., Pennsauken Township, N.J. 08109. Vera Charlotte Hyncik (nee Zydor), a resident of Wiley in Marlton, formerly of New York City, Merchantville, and Mt Laurel, died on February 26, 2022 at age 93. Her husband of 70 years, Bill Hyncik, predeceased her in 2019. She is survived by her loving family, daughter Holly Sukenik (John), son, William (Marilyn), seven grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.Vera and Bill's third child, Lee Jay, passed in 1984. Carey, Gorman "Ray", Jr., of Woodbine, left us to go to his Lord and Savior to ride forever in heaven on February 27, 2022. Ray was born at Our Lady of Lourdes in Camden, August 6, 1953 to Gorman Ray Carey Sr. and Audrey Carey (née Stone). Ray grew up in Merchantville NJ and graduated from Pennsauken High School; he was also a graduate of ACCC. Ray was a carpenter by trade for most of his life. Ray leaves to mourn his passing his mother, Audrey, his loving wife of 28 years, Lauri (née Heuer); his daughter, Samantha (Alejandro); his son, Gorman Ray Carey III (Krystal); his sisters, Michaelan (Chuck) Bickhart, Kathleen (Lee) Duffield, Theresa (Ricky) Krause and Laura Hehre; his brothers, Greg and David (Sue); his brothers-in-law, Wayne Harrigan, Chip Heuer (Dawn), and Gregg Heuer(MaryJo); his sister-in-law, Linda Sacco; his grandchildren, Kassandra and Preston Carey; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Wimberg Funeral Home, 211 East Great Creek Rd, Galloway NJ. Full obituary.

At the age of 79, Steve was called to glory surrounded by his children and loved ones. He was one of 7 children born to the late Stanley E. Holmes, Sr. and the late Naomi Cream Holmes. He graduated from Merchantville High School, Merchantville, NJ. Along with his three brothers, S&S Holmes Inc. was established. A host of Holmes businesses were created in the Camden area and spanned almost four decades. Steve is survived by his son Stephen M. Jr, daughters, Kimberly, Natalie, Tara and Stephanie; brother, Vaughn B. Holmes, Sr; sisters, Valerie B. Holmes and Loretta Saunders; sisters-in-laws, Sylvia and Donna; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Kroc Center Full obituary.

Long-time Merchantville resident, Gail Meister, passed peacefully on February 3rd from ovarian cancer at Penn Hospice at Rittenhouse in Philadelphia. Gail was born January 24, 1947, in Rockville Center, New York, to Dr. Lee and Lenora (Fleischer) Roth. She is survived by her husband, Rev. J.W. Gregg Meister of Merchantville and a daughter, Miriam L. R. Meister, PhD, of Seattle, Wash. Gail lived a focused life, determined never to put off until tomorrow what could be experienced today. She, Gregg and Miriam traveled whenever they could, and she loved planning their trips. She also is survived by a brother, Merrill (Ellen) Roth of Athens, NY; a sister, Susan Nurin, of New York City; nieces and nephews Tamara and Justin (Melissa) Nurin, Stephen and Nina Roth. and numerous cousins and relatives by marriage. Relatives and friends are invited Sunday, Feb. 6, 2022 beginning 9:00 am to Platt Memorial Chapels, 2001 Berlin Road, Cherry Hill, NJ, where funeral services will begin promptly at 10:00 am. Kathleen Kichula (née Mulderig), 75, a Merchantville for many years, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2022. She was the loving mother of Maureen Councillor (Thomas Bintliff, deceased) and Meredith Romea (Michael). Adored grandmother of four cherished grandchildren (Joshua, Madeline, Isabel and Ian) and former spouse of Bernard M. Kichula, deceased. Kathe was the dear sister of Pauline Smizer (Ed), John Mulderig (Susan) and Colleen Gangemi (Frank). Kathe was a registered nurse who spent her successful professional career caring for others including hospice patients and later, children with special needs at the Kingsway Learning Center. She was an avid reader, gardener, quilter and genealogist who enjoyed theater, Celtic music, Victorian architecture, Cape May and the beaches of LBI.
