Friday, April 28th is Arbor Day and the Merchantville Shade Tree Commission invites you to join them on the corner of East Maple Avenue and Fithian Avenue at 6:00 p.m. for a memorial tree dedication ceremony in memory of  former resident, Tom Evaul. The Commission will plant the Borough's first American Elm in Tom's memory. Arbor Day is a secular day of observance in which individuals and groups are encouraged to plant trees. Today, many countries observe such a holiday. Though usually observed in the spring,

the date varies, depending on climate and suitable planting season. National Arbor Day is always celebrated on the last Friday in April, but many states observe Arbor Day on different dates throughout the year based on best tree planting times in their area.
