Borough Council held its annual Reorganization meeting on Monday, January 6, 2020. Council-Elect Raymond H. Woods, lll, re-elected Councilman Anthony Perno and 2020 Council president, Sean Fitzgerald, were sworn in by Freeholder Louis Cappelli and Assemblywoman Pamela Lampitt. The meeting opened with remarks by Mayor Edward 'Ted' Brennan and the announcement Council Assignments and Standing Committees for 2020. Mayor Brennan also announced the 2020 Annual Appointments of Borough Board and Commission members and the appointment of Borough Solicitor, Borough Accountant, Borough Engineer, Municipal Planner, Bond Council, Payroll, Title, Environmental Engineer and Special Counsel. The Garden Club invites all residents to join them for a morning devoted to greening-up the Borough's downtown for the holidays. On Saturday, November 16th, we are going to decorate the downtown hanging baskets and planters with fresh greens. If you would like to join them, they are meeting at the gazebo - at Centre and Chestnut - at 10:00 a.m. Dress warmly, and please bring work gloves and pruning shears if you have them. If you have greens you would like to contribute, they encourage you to bring them to the gazebo with you on Saturday morning. They hope to see you there!

Not only is your water meter used for your quarterly bill, but it can be used as a tool to detect leaks in the house. A common concern our customers have are when their water bill has raised in price. Your water bill is based on the amount of water that is used at the property within that 90-day period of billing. If there is an increased bill with no changes to your water usage, you could possibly have something wasting water within the property. You can also keep track of your water usage by reading your meter manually as the reading be close to what is portrayed on your meter. The MPWC recommends that you follow these steps to check for leaks at your property. 

Snow and arctic cold is expected to blast the Northeast US in the coming days. Icy conditions and accumulating snow will spread across the northeastern United States early this week as a potent snowstorm pushes through the region. The storm that brought snow to the Rockies and High Plains on Sunday will continue to sink south into the beginning of the week. This storm will bring some snow and Arctic cold to parts of the southern Plains. As the storm strengthens over the central and southern Plains on Monday, it will send snow from Missouri into the western Great Lakes. By the afternoon, snow is expected to spread into western New York. From northwestern Pennsylvania to southern Missouri, precipitation will likely start as rain, but as Arctic air is pulled south on the backside of the storm, rain is forecast to gradually changeover to snow across these areas Monday afternoon and evening.
