The Camden County Certified Gardeners invite you to spend your summer helping and hunting for our garden friends, the fireflies and ladybugs! Learn why each are so important of our ecology and how you can help susustain them. On Saturday, June 21st, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. participants will go on a bug hunt, paint a garden rock to indicate a firefly or ladybug home area and take a pledge to help our summer garden friends. Lady beetles, also known as ladybugs, are distinct, varied and abundant, with approximately 500

species in North America and are superheroes to farmers and gardeners because they devour potentially destructive pests. Fireflies aren’t actually flies, they are beetles. Everyone has a role to play in conserving our fireflies and simple actions like planting native flowers, following best practices for using pesticides and supporting conservation measures help to reverse the decline of insects and their benefits. Fees: $20 per family, up to four people. This event will be held at 508 Lakeland Road in Blackwood, NJ.
