Merchantville resident, Ron Smith, has started a 4-H Club in town. This national organization - around for over 100 years - is a youth development organization that serves more than 6.5 million youth nationwide and more than 55,000 locally in New Jersey. Smith explained that the goal of the club is to expose and educate children, ages 5-19, on agriculture, nature, and the environment, though some chapters focus on technology, robotics, and other areas instead. Smith’s plan for the Merchantville chapter includes monthly gatherings and educational field trips in the area. Smith is a science teacher at Haddonfield Memorial High School. For more information on the club and upcoming events, contact Ron Smith at This email address is being protected from spambots. Merchantville Country Club will host a "The First Tee Golf Outing" on July 22nd. The First Tee teaches young people ages 5-18, through golf instruction, character education and long-term life skills delivered by coaches who have been trained in positive youth development. The Camden County Bar Association (CCBA) is dedicated to improving the administration of justice, advancing the interests of the legal profession and serving the public to promote a better understanding of the law and the justice system.

Come celebrate with family and friends on Thursday, July 4th at Woodbine Swim Club. We have games, coin toss for the kids, cannon ball contests, a watermelon race, a 50/50, and other fun for all ages. This year, we hope to bring back our corn-hole tournament, and add a horseshoe tournament, and volleyball. There will be lots of food available including burgers, dogs, grilled chicken, and other summer favorites, everything you expect from Woodbine's Independence Day Celebration. The fun starts at noon. The day is all about celebrating America's birthday and it just won't be the same unless you join us! We need help setting up the pavilion to sell food, running games and events, cooking, serving, selling tickets, and cleaning up at the end. We'll need volunteers to organize: Cannonball Contest, Watermelon Race, Piñata, Kids Games, Horseshoe Tournament, Corn-hole Tournament, and Volleyball. Click here to volunteer for an hour or two on the signup list.

Thank you to our Incredible Edible Merchantville partners in the Garden Club, who do so much in the West End to support good stewardship and a sustainable environment. The Merchantville Garden Club is always seeking volunteers for annual plantings at various spots around town - the planters throughout the downtown, planters at Borough Hall, the garden at the municipal building, the gardens at the ends of the bike path, the Merchantville Circle garden, Morrissesy Park and now near Cigar Alley. Please contact Cindy Hertneck at 609-472-4626 if you would like to contribute an hour or two of time to keeping the borough beautiful!

The Love in Motion Youth Group has decided on their next service project and are requesting donations. They will be collecting small or travel size items until July 6th to make “We Care” boxes. Items needed: toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, shampoo, soap, facewash, nail clippers, combs, brushes, tampons, sanitary pads, deodorant, wet wipes, razors and chapstick. The kids will be assembling boxes for men, women, and children with the donations received, then distribute them in the cities of Camden and Philadelphia. If you are able to help us help others, it will be truly appreciated! We will pick up or you may drop off at 112 Locust Street, Merchantville.
