At Saints Circles last week, SPS Principal, Mrs. O'Callaghan, reminded students that Jesus told the story of a man who was attacked on the road, and was close to death. A man from a different culture came by, and helped him, even though the two cultures were at odds. In our small groups, we discussed how we can put others first, and also how we can accept help from others. How can we all put others first in school? Here are some thoughts:
If there is one snack left and two people want it, you can give it to them; stand up for someone who is being bullied; listen when teachers are talking, instead of talking to your friends; give important items to the needy like food and clothing, or letting someone borrow supplies. They also learned how can we accept help from others by letting someone help you with your homework, even if you feel embarrassed; letting people cheer you up if you are sad; saying thank you; working on a team even if you think you can do it alone and listening to other people.
