Merchantville's annual Memorial Day service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 27, 2024 at Wellwood Memorial Park, Linden & Maple Avenue. As always, the services will be conducted by officers from the F.W. Grigg American Legion Post 68. In addition, BSA Troop 119 Merchantville will present the colors, Mayor Brennan will share a commemorative message and a traditional wreath laying by numerous Borough organizations and clubs will take place at the memorials facing Maple Avenue. Light refreshments will be provided at the end of the ceremony. On August 11, 1919, 17 local veterans met in The Club at 19 Centre St. in Merchantville to form one of the original posts
in the American Legion Department of New Jersey and the Frederick W. Grigg Post 68 was formed. The Post was issued a temporary charter by the national headquarters on August 13, 1919 and a permanent charter on March 24, 1921.
