The Merchantville Education Association and their PRIDE Grant Chairperson Sherry Iannucci, greeted parents during parent conferences. She applied for a FAST grant through the NJEA PRIDE in Public Education program to make  this experience more meaningful to parents and students. PRIDE in Public Education is a campaign that shares the successes of New Jersey’s public schools while building community support and involvement. PRIDE is proud to support NJEA FAST, or Families and Schools Together work for children, program. The goal of FAST is to involve parents and families in their children’s education through programs and events to help improve student achievement and ensure that families feel welcome and connected to our schools.

The Merchantville School District is seeking qualified candidates for a 5th Grade Math & Science Teacher at Merchantville Elementary School. Students interested in PTA Intramural Basketball should fill out a permission slip by January 10th, 2020. The program is held every Wednesday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and the season runs from January 15th through February 26th. All practices and games are in the school gym. Second and Third grade clinic is from 6:30 - 7:15 p.m. Fourth and Fifth grade clinic is from 7:15-8:00 p.m. Coaches/assistants are needed and there is no basketball experience required. Merchantville Elementary School has published a copy of the 2018-19 Merchantville School Report that was presented at the August 27, 2019 Board of Education meeting where the was shared by the Cheif School Administrator, J. Scott Strong, and the Director of Equity, Curriculum & Instruction, Krista Travaglini. It includes FAQs and data on demographics, absenteeism and discipline. National Take Your Family to School Week at Merchantville School is February 18th - 21st. Each day, from Tuesday through Friday, an exciting opportunity to engage will be offered by the PTA and/or Merchantville School. Please join us for this fun week of events. Everybody loves Breakfast for Dinner! Join Merchantville School families on Tuesday, February 18th, for "Pancakes and Pajamas", sponsored by Amy's Omelette House. Wear something cozy, bring a board game, and enjoy. Enjoy classroom visitations on Wednesday, February 19th then, continue the family fun at Family Literacy Night hosted by the teachers, faculty and staff on Thursday evening, February 20th. Top off the week with "Spirit After Dark", a night of relay races, games and fun!

Merchantville School is "Thankful for its Diversity" and continues to celebrate student differences and distinctiveness through education and art. MES students share and learn about different cultures throughout the year and express this in artwork from the holiday season. As part of their "No Place for Hate" initiative, Merchantville School students highlight and promote the uniqueness of each student. In class, children have the opportunity to exchange information about where their ancestors came from, discuss the words they choose to represent them and participate in a Poetry Slam about diversity.

St. Peter School will have a Trunk or Treat & Car Decorating Contest for students & students families on Friday, October 25th. Spooky or Scary? Kooky or Crafty? Decorate your vehicle with any fun-themed decorations! All cars will be judged on creativity and originality and, the top two cars will win a prize! Admission: $5.00 per Family/one parking space included. Advanced Sales only. A numbered pumpkin will be sent home and is required for entry.
