Merchantville's 2026 Maple Project is off and running with many of our 16 volunteers having tapped their sugar maple trees since our workshop event on January 24th and our 15 volunteer boilers ready to take on the syrup-making challenge. The sap is slowly flowing into their red and white buckets and we'll start collecting soon - once the daytime temperatures are above freezing! Right now, it looks like we should have enough sap to start by Wednesday
or Thursday next week. This year we hope to improve our ability to evaporate the sap more efficiently while keeping all our volunteers a bit warmer with a tent to serve as our "sugar shack". We'll be at the Community Center most days between 8AM-4PM so please stop by to check the Maple Project out!
