For those who are concerned about the health risk posed by coronavirus, Camden County has an alternative voting process which is just as safe, secure, and confidential called "Vote by Mail". This option allows a voter to vote without going to the polls on election day. Any registered voter can Vote By Mail and no reason is necessary to apply. Governor Phil Murphy on April 8th, 2020 signed Executive Order No. 120, postponing primary elections on Tuesday, June 2nd to Tuesday, July 7th in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

 

The Camden County Historical Society Lecture Series presents Professional Genealogist, Shamele Jordon, who will inspire you with tools to find and tell your family story. Attend the full series or an individual presentation on Sundays from 1:00-2:30 p.m. On February 23rd view the best African-American records from 1850-1950 and learn the best strategies to gather evidence to tell the story of free and enslaved. Pennsauken resident Mary Anne McFarland will be among 14 Camden County residents honored at the 2020 Camden County Freedom Medal Ceremony for serving the public interest by demonstrating the ideals and actions that reflect the principles of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. McFarland is a long-term resident of Pennsauken, committed to grassroots initiatives and leadership roles for three nationally recognized organizations, the Woman’s Club of Merchantville, the Home Tour and Operation Santa. Mary Anne was a long-term troop Leader for Boy Scouts in Merchantville, Pennsauken and Haddon Heights, having a great impact in the region by fostering future leaders. Mary Anne currently serves on the Lions Club of Pennsauken and has been the Secretary and Sight Chairperson for the last decade. A Town Hall Meeting, hosted by the Camden County Board of Freeholders, is scheduled for Thursday, January 23rd, at the Camden County Boathouse in Pennsauken. The meeting includes a Q&A session, providing residents the ability to ask questions and get answers straight from a representative of the governing body and elected officials the opportunity to hear directly from their constituents. Following the Town Hall meeting will be a services fair featuring representatives from several county departments. Congressman Norcross will host a Census Job Fair at Pennsauken Library on Friday, February 14th from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Every 10 years, the U.S. Census Bureau is responsible for conducting the nationwide census. The Census Bureau is recruiting to fill important temporary positions to help make the 2020 Census an accurate and complete count. Branching Out to Caregivers is a caregiver support group that provides resources and health caregiving. Join us on January 21st from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Haddon Township Branch of the Camden County Library System to learn about caregiver stress, legal concerns, respite programs, adult medical day centers, Alzheimer’s and dementia education and much more. The Camden County Freeholder Board and Gloucester County Freeholder Board will mark the 78th anniversary of Pearl Harbor, December 7th 1941, on Friday, December 6th at 10:00 a.m. on the Battleship New Jersey. The attack on Pearl Harbor led to the subsequent entry of the United States into World War II. The ceremony will take place on the fantail of the battleship. The event is free and open to the public.
