Merchantville's annual Memorial Day service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 26, 2025 at Wellwood Memorial Park, Linden & Maple Avenue. As always, the services will be conducted by officers from the F.W. Grigg American Legion Post 68. In addition, BSA Troop 119 Merchantville will present the colors, Mayor Brennan will share a commemorative message and a traditional wreath laying by numerous Borough organizations and clubs will take place at the memorials facing Maple Avenue. It's a Bike Rodeo! On Sunday, May 18th, grab your bikes and head to the Community Center at 212 Somerset Avenue from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. for this FREE event supporting bike and pedestrian safety. The Merchantville Police Department Bike Patrol will be on hand to work with kids aged 4-12 on cycling skills and safety - just in time for summer adventures! As of May 2nd, the CDC's confirmed measles case count is 935, more than triple the amount seen in all of 2024. The three-month outbreak in Texas accounts for the vast majority of cases, with 683 confirmed as of Friday, May 2. The outbreak has also spread to New Mexico, Oklahoma and Kansas. Measles is caused by a highly contagious virus that's airborne and spreads easily when an infected person breathes, sneezes or coughs. It is preventable through vaccines, and has been considered eliminated from the U.S.
